There is an interesting project in play in Japan right now which would use a person’s rear end as a way to identify who might be sitting in a particular vehicle. This interesting type of biometric identification technology has been touted as something that could be employed for more than just identification in vehicles. The inventor believes that it could be used eventually to log in and log out of a computer simply by allowing someone to sit in their chair or get up. Although there are concerns that various environmental factors could influence the readout, the inventor is confident that he can reduce false positive rates.
