FREE: 512mb memory stick

Just like the thread title says. 512mb DDR2 PC-5300 stick of memory. Came out of my laptop due to an upgrade, really have no need for it anymore. PM me your address and I'll get it shipped out.

Go to the Apple Menu and select About This Mac. Then hit the More Info... button. When profiler comes up select memory. This will tell you what you have and what kind (for instance my G4 laptop has PC2700U-25330) The key is you need a slot with less than 512MB and PC6700??? Check the spec Geek as I think you really have DDR2 PC-5300 which should be the current Macbook or Macbook Pro

So it will fit but I think you will find you have two 512MB sticks installed now Osiris. Use the method described to determine that though.

This is an older iBook that belongs to a good friend of mine. So, I can't really check it. My PowerBook has PC2700 so i can't imagine it's much different in the iBook.

I think it has PC2700.

Got her to check and it just says built-in on the system profiler. I'm fairly certain it's PC2700 though. She only has 256 right now, so any would help her

I will check the developer notes and see if there was one that was soldered on the board. Any idea on processor speed so I can find it easier? I am guessing and older version that has one slot and one soldered.

It's a 1.33 GHz G4 if I remember correctly. I don't know about the built-in, but there's a slot under the keyboard to add RAM.

iBook Developer Note: The RAM Expansion Module

According to that it looks like you can use PC2100 or PC2700 (more common) and are limited to 1.5GB. You should be able to find a 1GB for 60-70 that would be a HUGE improvement for her. That says the RAM is under the keyboard though...

No problem but for a small amount she could get a machine that doubled in speed

Unless I was going to replace it in the next 6 months it is a no brainer.... If she only has one 256MB I have a 256MB PC2700 on the coffee table right now I would mail for the same outrageous fee Geek wanted (PM me your address) But that only gets her to 512MB
