CompUSA going out of business?
Rumor: CompUSA going out of business in January - Engadget
Truthfully I don't know how they've stayed in business. They have nothing that I would ever want to go in there for. :idunno:

Re: CompUSA going out of business?
I could see it. They have lost focus and over expanded it would seem. My biggest gripe with them is that it is often hard to tell what the price is of some items (well and service is poor)

Re: CompUSA going out of business?
The main upside to this might be liquidating their inventory. Could be some deals to be had.

Re: CompUSA going out of business?
Looks like it's official. Farewell CompUSA: Company to shutter remaining stores
Maybe I could find a good deal on an external hard drive. I'll have to see if there is a store near me. I doubt it...

Re: CompUSA going out of business?
External drives were about all they were good for. I had one about 4 miles from my house. I would always go there first instead of Fry's... but the selection was just odd. They would have some stuff that made sense, but then they would have a huge selection of HDTVs... I always wondered if their merchandizing people just went for whatever high margin product walked into the door on any given day. The employees were marginally good at best.
To be honest, the strangest thing was the forced "one-way" doors... you couldn't just go out the front doors, you had to go through the cash registers to get to the "out" door. It was just plain stupid. |
