Re: Share your iTunes library over your home network

MAtbe I am wrong but these directions are specific to itunes on Windows. Now I found some directions to do this sort of thing on a mac. But I was very disappointed on how it works. I shared my itunes music library in the preferences. I turned on file sharing in system preferances. Then I went to another computer on my network which was a windows box. I started itunes and my library was accessible. I thought cool. It works.

But what I noticed was I had to be logged in as mself on the mac in order to see the music. If I logged out, my music library is unavalible. This stinks.

Yeah, I think that changed when they released Tiger.

Re: Share your iTunes library over your home network

To make matters worse, my wife wanted to listen to some music from my library while checking her e-mail. She was not able to access my itunes because she has her own username. She cannot access my music. They better fix this issue. This is should not be a music sharing violation. The music in on the computer.

I just thought of something. Can I move my music directory to the shared user on the comupter? Could she be able to access the files from her username then?
Only a portion of my music is protected. Most of my stuff are ripped from my CD's.

Re: Share your iTunes library over your home network

Yeah, you should be able to share the library that way. Just make sure both of your iTunes programs point to the same location.
