MacBook Pro RAM upgrade.

Why Apple even offers this laptop with only 512mb of RAM is beyond me. IMO it needs at least 1 GB to be "happy".

I finally quit slacking for a few moments several weeks ago and purchased a 1GB upgrade from Newegg. I think I paid around $140 with shipping for the stick of memory, and it was well worth it. I debated getting a second stick, but at the time it was hard to justify another $140 for only 512mb of additional memory(it's only 512 additional because it would replace the existing 512 already in the machine). Install was a breeze with only having to remove 3 screws and took less than 5 minutes.

This is a must do for any MBPro user!

Re: MacBook Pro RAM upgrade.

I think it is a must do for any computer now days. My imac came with 512M. I installed another 512M by the next week. It was a very easy install. I think it is a ploy by apple to buy more hardware.

Re: MacBook Pro RAM upgrade.

PC's have done the same. Until the "Vista ready" PC's started coming out 256-512mb was the norm which really is inadequate for a happy XP machine.
