How do I migrate to a bigger HD on my macbook pro?

Just wondering...I currently have a 320g in there, but with 22gb left and no forseeable way of moving my imovie/iphoto stuff useably off-disk, I am wondering how to go about this?

Other World Computing is your friend. They will have a video on how to install a new drive. I recommend a clean install of the OS then apps rather than copying them. But you likely want a drive adapter to transfer files when you get the new drive in.

Find the latest Performance Upgrades, Firewire and USB Hard Drives, SATA, Memory, Laptop Battery, and more at OWC

Search Results for "Universal Drive Adapter" at OtherWorldComputing.com

I would echo what sheep said. Buy a new drive, do a fresh install of the OS and then reinstall your necessary apps. It's worked well for me in the past.

Alternatively you can use Disk Utility to make and image and then restore it but you need a ton of space to do that.

Isn't there supposed to be a new OS landing sometime soon? I was thinking of tying these two events together...but then again, that superduper pakage looks almost too easy

used it four times so far without a glitch.

  1. Initialize the new drive in a USB enclosure
  2. Run superduper
  3. Replace old drive with new drive
  4. Stick the old drive in the enclosure for a backup

You're beginning to tempt me.

I am now stuck in that area where I sit waiting for a 1tb laptop HDD that is fast and cheap

500g is not enough of a jump at this point for me to move...750, meh...

WD has some 1TB notebook drives now, but they won't fit into MB Pros.

Saw mention of that...was wondering if they were compatible, darnit.

Now I am thinking to just pop in snow leopard and reload my software...but, need to figure out what will happen to stuff that I registered on my old SW.
