Intentional shortage?

Is Apple playing the lame fake shortage game? I checked the local store and they said check back for status. Well this was late Saturday night so where did stuff magically appear from? I think they are slowly parsing them out to create a fake shortage with just enough supply to keep the frenzy going

OK so I asked and the excuse seemed viable they only update at night so if they get an order in on Saturday it is not updated until that night (thus Sunday). I still refuse to wait in line for a darn phone though
