So I downloaded the Remote app from the store. It was free, from Apple and I like to listen to my music so why not. The phone sees my library name, however it can't connect to it. I went as far as putting an exception into my firewall to allow incoming traffic to iTunes and still no dice.

Just as soon as I had finished typing this I found the problem. YOU HAVE TO TURN YOUR FIREWALL OFF. What in the hell were they thinking??

I'm trying to sniff it out with Little Snitch but it doesn't show any activity. Interestingly enough, once it is connected I can turn the firewall back on and the remote stays functional. If you go back to the home screen it won't reconnect.

If Little Snitch does not see it download Ethereal and capture packets.

Apparently I'm an idiot and didn't add the firewall exception the right way. Got it working with the firewall on now. I gotta say, it's pretty impressive. I can see it getting some use!

Tested this with my Apple TV the other night. Pretty cool better than the regular remote and would be great for dark rooms. It also gives a bit of feedback that the regular remote lacks (sometimes I wonder if your hit it)
