Bluetooth always discoverable?

I'm having a little trouble accepting the fact that the Bluetooth module on my phone is always discoverable and is always searching for devices. I feel a little uneasy about this for security reasons and battery life. Anybody know of a way to change this?

After some tinkering, it looks like the phone is only discoverable if I'm actually on the Bluetooth on/off page. I tested it with my laptop. It sat there and was looking for several minutes, then I clicked into the on/off page on the phone and the laptop picked it up almost instantly. I feel much better now.

BTW, the Plantronics Discovery 655 works like a charm.

I am trying to hold out but my Razr just said it needed a sim card. I took it apart and reseated things but the battery felt a bit puffy

Since this is my only phone (land/cell) I really don't want it to take a dump on short notice. Hope the apple store gets to Hsv soon and they come out with the faster networked iPhone soon....

I bought a new replacement battery for my RAZR off eBay for about $15. If it can't read your SIM card you may need a new one. I've had to replace mine before.

When I plugged it back in it is working again. Not quit ruining good excuses
